I have been listening to this song on the radio for quite a while. It goes by the name “Bandeya Ho”. I had no clue as to who had sung this song or which film/album it belonged to. But yet i loovd it when they played this song. Goes without saying that I didnt understand the message the song was trying to potray, but then, i have never let my love for music be dominated by my need to understand the lyrics. I am a huge fan of the little Turkish and Nepali music that i have heard. I dont understand either languages, but the music just makes me listen to them time and again. Like they say Music has no language. Thats so true in my case.
Yesterday night i was watching this fabulous Pakistani movie, “Khuda Kaay Liye” and in the midst of it, Shaan strikes his guitar chords and breaks into a song that was very familiar to my ears. I let out a yelp at hearing those familiar words. The song was “Bandeya Ho”.
There is something about Sufi Music that really draws me to it. I dont understand the message in the song, but i can spend hours listening to Sufi Music. My first interaction with it came some years back when Rabbi came out with the fabulous chartbuster “Bulla Ki Jaana Mai kaun”.
Baba Bulley Shah is the original composer of both the songs. Thanks to new age musicians, this type of music is making a comeback. I would like to conclude the post by posting the lyrics of the song “Bandey Ho” along with its video from the movie.
